JEN KINDER, PT, DPTSc

Movement Specialist at

The Butterfly Effect Retreat

Move like you’ve never moved before! Jen will lead the group in a stretch and strengthen practice that embodies the feminine. Tone, lengthen, and awaken the body; fueling your inner fire and desires. As a board certified women’s health clinical specialist, pelvic health physical therapist, associate professor, and ACSM exercise physiologist, former collegiate runner turned dancer - Jen prides herself on leading groups utilizing her keen movement techniques and visualizations; attuning to the body’s individual needs.

Jen helps participants tap into the awareness of their pelvis.  Women tend to dissociate from their pelvis. Be it a traumatic birth or medical experience, violence, or abuse; women learn how to “forget” about their pelvis and go about their lives. It is usually when they have pain in the knee/back/hip/incontinence/pelvic pain that they learn how to re-connect with their pelvis.

She will lead sessions that:

1. talk about the dissociation from the pelvis that we subconsciously do and how this leads to injury/pain

2. the anatomical brain-body connection

3. how to engage their pelvic floor and core muscles in the best way and use this throughout all of their movements and daily lives.

Often when people learn how to engage their pelvic and core muscles correctly, they feel stronger, lighter, and move with better ease- just like a butterfly!  Jen will lead us in yoga techniques to help open our hips, where we carry the seed of life!

JESSICA McMILLAN, Certified

Jessica started her training in dance yet soon thereafter her interests led her into yoga. She loved the aspect of yoga that incorporated self reflection in order to deepen awareness into the body.

She has practiced yoga since 2009 and became a teacher in 2014. She has advanced training with Ana Forest, who is a pioneer in yoga and emotional healing as well as Ayurveda. Beyond yoga, Jessica has developed an extensive understanding of the muscles and movement through massage therapy.

Taking this integrated approach of dance, yoga, emotional healing, ayurveda, movement and massage Jessica guides us through her class focusing on the combination of balance and strength.
